Vena Winter Release 2026: Planning Agent, Query Agent and Enhanced Tasks

Finance technology is getting smarter. The Vena Winter Release 2026 introduces two AI-powered capabilities — the Planning Agent and the Query Agent — that remove manual friction from planning and reporting. Alongside these, a significant update to the Tasks experience is already live and ready to use. We have reviewed this release in detail to identify what is available in the EU today and what is coming. Here is a practical breakdown.

Enhanced Tasks Experience in Vena (Available Now)

The Tasks tab has been significantly improved and becomes the sole Tasks experience in Vena from March 15, 2026.

You can now filter tasks by process type, such as budget versus forecast, and by status: In Progress, Upcoming or Overdue. Sorting options have also expanded to cover date type and name.

The most impactful change is the return of bulk submit and bulk approve. Instead of processing tasks one by one, your team can complete multiple tasks in a single action. During high-volume cycles, this saves real time and cuts repetitive clicking.

Vena Planning Agent: AI-Powered Planning in Excel (Open Beta)

Budgeting and forecasting cycles lose time to manual adjustments, version management and formula checks. The Vena Planning Agent cuts through that.

It converts natural-language prompts into Excel, working within your existing Vena data model via CubeFLEX. It understands your current templates, mappings and hierarchies. You do not need to rebuild anything to start using it.

With the Planning Agent, your team can:

  • Use latest actuals as a planning baseline and apply percentage increases
  • Apply seasonality-based spreading across dimensions or GL accounts
  • Run driver-based calculations
  • Build targeted plans that respect your tenant's data model and hierarchy

The agent works inside your CubeFLEX model, so plans stay context-aware and structurally consistent. For teams running frequent forecast updates with multiple stakeholders, this speeds up cycles and tightens control.

Status: Open Beta. We are monitoring developments and will share updates as functionality expands.

Vena Query Agent: Natural Language MQL (Open Beta)

Writing Model Query Language (MQL) expressions is powerful but time-consuming. Even experienced users spend several minutes on a single query, often relying on help documentation to get it right.

The Vena Query Agent removes that friction. Describe the data you need in plain language and the agent converts your request into precise MQL. Instead of exporting large datasets and filtering manually, you get targeted data slices immediately.

Key benefits:

  • Faster and more accurate MQL generation
  • More targeted data exports with better performance
  • Improved template mapping
  • Automated data transformations

This lowers the barrier to advanced Vena functionality and makes it accessible to both new and experienced users.

Status: Open Beta. As this feature evolves, we will keep you informed.

What the Vena Winter Release 2026 Means for Finance Teams

The Planning and Query Agents show where Vena is heading. The enhanced Tasks experience delivers value right now. Together, these updates support faster planning cycles, better data access and stronger daily control.

At Finext, we help organizations turn new functionality into measurable impact, preparing teams for what is coming and making sure they get the most from what is available.
