This training covers everything you need to know to build a complete Vena application from scratch. It’s designed for admins and experiences key users who want to level up their skills and become confident with building in Vena. The full training takes about 6 days to complete, depending on your experience level. It’s self-explanatory, so you can go through the content when it suits you.

Here’s what we cover in the training:
Data modelling
Data modelling is the process of organizing your data so that it makes sense and can be used effectively for planning, reporting, and analysis. The chosen dimensionality determines the ways how can look at your data. The member sets within your dimensions determine which accounts or profit centers you can plan upon and how they will be treated in a calculation for instance. During the training you will:
- Create the dimensions, hierarchies and data model
- Loading historical data into the data model
Report and Input templates
The templates are crucial in an application. The input templates determine that input gets to the correct combinations of a data model to be picked up by following calculations or reports. Having a good understanding about your data model is therefore important. During the training we will cover all the steps to build fully functioning reports and input templates. We will practice the following technical steps:
- Page mappings
- Row and column mappings
- Drill transactions
- Formatting
Scripting
A Script is a set of instructions written in a programming language - that tells software to do something automatically. In Vena it is one of the methods to perform calculations with your data. We will briefly touch upon some script to get you more familiar with it.
Admin
In the admin menu, the whole process can coordinated and prepared. Think of elements such as adding new users, determining what data they can and cannot see. We will touch upon the following.
- Importing users
- User groups
- Permissions
Workflow
With the workflow a manager orchestrates the planning or reporting process. Who is doing what and when? During the process it can be used to monitor the progress. This training we will do the following.
- Create activity items
- Set task bindings and notifications
- Workflow testing
Using Java .jar batch files
It’s likely that Vena is not the only application in your landscape. Chances are that the valuable data in Vena is required in different application. Data can be disclosed from Vena in many ways. Using a Java .jar batch files is an easy way to automate this process step in case it is repetitive. We will:
- Creating alternative hierarchy
- Automate integration options
- Setup Java and .jar
- Create batch file
Practical info
This training is designed to be done on your own company’s Vena tenant. There will be no classical sessions. You can complete the assignments at your own speed in a time that suits you from the workplace that you enjoy most. The one-on-one coaching will be online and can be scheduled any time that suits you.

We charge €4,000 for the first participant per organization and €1,500 per person thereafter.
The price of first participant is a combination of €2,500 for the training materials, which is a one-time investment per organization, and €1,500 for four one-on-one coaching sessions with a Vena expert.
