Data collection is often the part where consolidation processes become unnecessarily complex. SAP Group Reporting 2025 focuses precisely here on stability and predictability.

Correctly handling postings in closed periods

Because Group Reporting works on a periodic basis, postings in closed periods were previously difficult to process correctly. SAP Group Reporting 2025 now offers the option to release these postings in the next open period.

Without reopening periods, the process remains manageable and compliant. A significant improvement for organisations with strict governance around the month-end close.

Loading data without unwanted counterbookings

With YTD deliveries from external sources, automatic counterbookings used to occur when certain dimensions were missing. In the new release, existing data remains in place and only the difference is added.

This is particularly valuable for organisations that:

  • do not deliver movements every month
  • do not want to keep correcting opening balances
  • combine multiple data sources

It prevents corrections that are not necessary from a content perspective, but do take time and explanation.

More cohesion in GRDC

For end users, the Group Reporting Data Collection app sometimes felt disconnected from the consolidation process. In SAP Group Reporting 2025, key actions such as releases and validations can now be triggered directly from GRDC.

This results in:

  • less switching between apps
  • clearer process steps
  • a more integrated user experience

Recording budgets when needed

In addition, it is possible to capture multiple years, periods and versions within a single GRDC form. This makes it easier, for example, to record a monthly forecast for the coming year.

Group Reporting does not become a planning solution, and we would not recommend moving a full planning process into it. But for scenarios where a high-level projection per month is all you need, it now works well enough to get the job done.
